C5 inside hood light three simple, very basic fixes
In order, easiest to most difficult (which is still super easy):
1. Make sure the cable that comes out from under the hood insulation at the passenger side front corner of the hood is plugged into the female socket front right of radiator area, you can't miss it. That was my problem, no IDEA how that came unplugged.
2. Check the #2 fuse in the fusebox under the passenger footwell. When you remove the fuse box lid, the key to what fuse is what is inside. Get some needle nose pliers for this. 10 amp red, small, top left area.
3. Remove and check the bulb. AND, what I learned the hard way, lay a big towel over the engine underneath where you're working on the bulb, so that when if like me, you are getting it out or back in and it slips through your fingers, down into the engine or onto the floor a few times. A visual test is probably adequate but, I put 12V to mine just to make sure. The bulb has a loop of wire at each end you can test, and that it attaches with as well.
To get the bulb out, you grab the bulb and pull down (that top tab is springy) until you can slip the bottom loop off it's tab. To replace, hook at top, pull it down till you can slip the bottom bulb loop back over the bottom connector.
Sorry no pics.
