Changing harmonic balancer in 1998 vette. I marked it like manual said, mark on crank and hub. while taking bolt off of balancer I hit the outer (larger) pulley with socket, pulley lands in floor, when bolt breaks loose the inner (smaller) pulley is on ratchet extension. Manual says put balancer on exact same way it came off. I can't tell where pulleys were in relation to mark on hub. Does it really matter how it goes on? There were no weights on factory balancer if it matters. I wish I would have made marked on hub and both pulleys but too late now. Where do I go from here?
Oddly enough, GM disagrees. Those fools call it a Crankshaft balancer.
And Harley prints fastener torque as ft/lb... Just because someone printed the wrong terminology doesn't mean it's correct. How many times do you see "2-cycle" used for oil or engines when the correct is "2-stroke". People use terminology they are familiar with - it's not always correct. The LS1 is internally balanced. GM also built my C7 A8 transmission - and I can tell you they are by no means professionals in that arena - damn fools.
