Im trying to replace my shocks on my 98 and I had no problem with the rear ones but of course no job can be too easy. As I’m using vice grips to remove front shocks top nut, the vice grips start to round out the two flat spots on the bolt. Ive left a small rag soaked with penetrant on it for the night.
One idea I’ll try is using a small open wrench to hold the bolt as I try and remove the nut. Plan E will be grinding a slot into the end and using a flat driver to hold it.
Any ideas?

If there’s an O’Reiily’s near you I’d suggest the Lisle Shock Absorbing tool, I ordered it in-store for $12 and change, made front removals much easier (I previously had issues trying to use tools I had lying around as well, figured the price of the Lisle wasn’t too bad for something that’ll be seldomly used)

Do you by chance have a part number? I went this morning before work and couldn’t find anything.
Thank you
