Default Low voltage reading on DIC 2000 C5

I have a 2000 C5 and I am getting a low voltage readout on the dash
I have had both the alternator and battery tested and both are good
also my Tach and voltage gauge stopped working
when I cycle the key all of the gauges do there thing so I know they are getting power.
has anyone one else experienced this issue
and if so where do I begin to look to resolve this issue??
thanks for your help

The Tach and Voltmeter get their power from the Ignition 1 Voltage wire at the IPC…do you have a DVOM and know how to use it ??

Strong possibility it's the ignition switch, specifically the contacts have some arcing and are causing the low voltage alarm. Many threads on the subject, and how to remove the switch and clean the contacts, which is not actually that bad.

There is a sticky thread called ultimate diy thread and there is a sub thread titled Ignition switch repair by Bill Curlee, all the details you need to know.

You really don’t look for the fuse to be “burnt”….easiest to check a fuse with a 12 volt test light…OK, just to make it easier for you to do a voltage drop from the battery to the IPC so with the engine running take a voltage reading at the battery terminals and then take a voltage reading at the IPC fuse 19…subtract the 2 voltage readings and you should see 0.2-0.3 volts…if good you will then have to remove the IP and now with the engine running place one lead of your DVOM on one of the 2 test points on top of fuse 19 and the other lead on pin 13 which is a pink wire at the connector…if the DVOM shows a negative number don’t worry about that…just look at the number…0.2 to 0.3 is good…you will have to back probe that pink wire at the connector…if this testing is over your head find yourself an auto electric shop in your area.

Ok I have looked at all of that
I am a little confused what do I set my multi meter to?
I have checked power to the #19 fuel
as well as the ignition relays and the connection to the starter are all in tight
i have not taken out the Instrument panel or done anything with the ignition switch..
any suggestions??

You set it to DC volts…if someone’s questions “how can you read voltage if I put one lead on battery positive and the other lead on a power carrying fuse” they really don’t understand that a voltmeter measures difference in voltage “potential” or difference…you can do the same thing putting one lead on battery negative and the other lead on an engine ground for instance and get a reading…its not just red lead on positive and black lead on negative !!…if you have 12 volts coming out of the battery and 6 volts at the fuse in this case you are dropping 6 volts across the ignition switch…you will see 6 volts on the DVOM which is the difference.
