I am getting 14.43 at the battery
and 14.07 at the fuse
Well your voltage drop from the battery through the ignition switch to the fuse is 0.36 volts…0.50 volts is the “book value” max but your number isn’t too bad…IS THE CAR RUNNING AND WHAT FUSE ARE YOU CHECKING ??
Are you just checking voltage at the fuse and not performing a voltage drop from battery positive to the fuse ??…if you are just checking voltage at the fuse you must compare it to battery voltage and subtract the numbers and that is your voltage drop…again car must be running (current must be flowing) to do voltage drop.
Yes I am still getting 14.3 at the battery
and the 13.7 at the fuse with the car running
Well you have a 0.6 voltage drop across the ignition switch and 0.5 is the “book” max but normally you’ll see about 0.1 to 0.2 so by going by that I’d say change your ignition switch.
That is the direction I was thinking as well.
now also need to tackle why the clutch pedal wants to stay on the floor and not return to the top
any ideas what would be the cause?
I have changed the fluid snot Five times and it is still clear and clean seems to do it more after I drive it for a while and mainly when it is in reverse???
I got the new ignition switch in
however I am still getting the low voltage message across the dashboard
many other suggestions?
The new ignition switch, did it have a green casing or a black casing? The green version is the older 'good' version that is very hard to find now, whereas black ones are the newer replacement version that can reportedly be bad right out of the box, and may require adjusting the fingers to make proper contact with the 5 contacts inside.
It was the newer one with the black casing
how do you adjust them?
There is a very good video on Youtube by Josh Carroll, who explains everything. Just search for "C5 Corvette ignition switch repair". It may be a different issue,
but at least you can confirm or rule out the switch.
