Default Oil pressure sensor issue question

About a week ago my oil psi pegged at 80 even when just in acc mode. So i know its a bad sensor, driving today oddly the oil pressure sensor started going wack dropping down to zero then right back up to 80 is this just the senor going out worse? My oil if fine ect i plan on getting the sensor replaced i just have to wait to get the extra money, im just concerned because now its acting out of wack when it was perm pegged at 80. So my question is thisbis the senor just going my out of wack right? Oil pumps fine car rumning the same no wierd sounds thanks bery much it had 59k miles
while driving now it will pegg back down to zero tell me i have low oil pressure than pegg right back to 80 the sounds so annoying when it chimes my oil pressure is low i wish i could turn that off somhow till i can fix this.

It's the sensor, classic failure is pegged at 80psi.

thats wat i thought it just surprised me when it started dropping down to zero while driving out of no where because it hadent done that yet. Wish there was a way to turn off the chime for oil pressure low, because its gunna be a little bit befor for i got the extra money to have the sensor fixed.

You can change it without removing manifold or cutting a hole in cowling, but it's not easy lol!

right and im not a mechanic so gunna have to put money back to get it fixed the senor isent expensive but mechanics are , i hope it stops jumping from 80 to 0 like i was pegged at 80 the chime is so annoying knowing my oil pressure isent low. I thought about unplugging the radio so my speakers wont work lol

replacing this sensor is not hard at all. Even if you decide to pull the intake off its a simple task to do.

honestly the hardest part was disconnecting the fuel lines (98) for me.

Most of the times when the sensor goes bad it will peg at 80 but some times the sensor will go to 0 PSI and stay there if that happens the car will shut down, you can start it again and it will shut down right a way.

Any idea how long does it take for the eng to shut itself down from 0 oil press? On my 2000 coupe, when I first got it, stopped at gas station. Filled-up, started eng and got msg on DIC saying to check gauges. Oil press gauge at zero. Shut it off and verified oil level was good. Started it back up and revved it slightly, but no help. Shut it off and had a tow truck take it home. Rpl oil press sensor and it was all good. I ran it for less than 1 minute total but it never shut itself off.

Yup, normal. OEM oil pressure sensors are as reliable as an ex-wifes testimony at a custody hearing (yes-I like that statement!!) Mine failed like yours, eventually staying at zero. I'm here to tell ya THAT will make your rectal orifice pucker, for sure!!! Dont ask me how I know.......

My 2000 vert didn't shut off either. I drove it to the auto parts store to get a new sender.....
