pull the head, check to verify damage. I'd look at the pistons, verify the valve isn't bent, damage to the valve guide, and valve seat. A bent valve can seal and run but eventually the valve will fail. Better to check everything out up front than finding a motor. Pulling the head isn't a bad job.
I'd find a good local machine shop to check the heads. If you are in Atlanta, I have one.
Before I would start pulling heads I would check the piston and cylindr with a boreoscope. That will tell you if the piston hit the valve. You can pretty easily check that the valve isn't bent hne you change the spring. After that a compression test will tell if the valve is sealing properly.
