1998 C5 base convertible. I walked to my car today and opened the passenger door only to discover my passenger seat had moved all the way forward, all by itself while vehicle was parked, My normal position for the passemger seat is all the back. I then used the power switch and moved the seat all the way back.
Got in the car, started it and started driving. After about 60 seconds, with no one sitting in the passenger seat, the seat, all by itself, moved all the way forward while I was driving. I thought there was a ghost in my seat LOL. So any thoughts on what the problem might be? I already suspect the seat module, and I have 4 extra seats I can pull a module from. But has anyone ever seen or heard of a seat moving all by itself? and if so was there a fix.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Not seat moving, but once I washed mine (convertible top) and after washing went for drive and heard motor in passenger seat running.
I think it was for either the air bags for lumbar support or the side supports, took car home and disconnected battery, some water had dripped on seat outer edge.
Just wash car, or did it rain?
Or just some kind of short, critters chewing on wires?
I had that a few weeks ago and then the next day the battery was totally dead. Pretty sure it's the switches on the side of the seat but I haven't looked into it yet, I just unplugged the seat from power for now
Yes, it had just rained the night before and yes it is a convertable, which leaks when it rains. Been chasing that since I purchased the car. But a good idea to move the seat all the way back and disconnect the power for a temperariry fix.

Disco Denny, thanks for the details about the issues with your seats. My '99 c5 had the same problem. Our car, has battery drain issues! Currently, I disconnect the battery every-time I'm finished driving for the day. Once I reconnect the battery, the seat does strange things. Once I made the adjustments like yourself, I held down that memory 1 switch on the drivers-side control panel. That seemed to help. However, those seats do have a mind of their own. Have peace of mind, it's not just your car....
Thanks for everyone's advise. So after my incident, the seat does not move any more. It might be like once every 6 months I get the anti skid light on my dash. Once I turn off the engine and then turn it on, i wont come back for another 6 months. So I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again I will change out the seat controller and the switch assembly. I have 4 seats sitting on the shelf and so have many spare parts to use.
The seat memory contacts can become corroded or gunked up. A workaround is to move the seat back an forth, full range ten times. A last resort is to pull the seat, disassemble and clean, re dielectric grease the contacts.
