Going to change my 2001 C5 automatic shifter, cable bushings only, not the cable. I need to unhook this shifter release cable from the shifter, but can’t figure out how it releases. I don’t want to break it so if anyone can tell me how it comes off I would appreciate it.
Thx for getting back to me. I figured it out already. It slides backwards towards the rear of the car and comes right off. No lifting, pushing or pulling. 👍🙏
The shift cable is not in your picture. Here is how you access the shift cable. Do NOT bend it upward much or it will break and you will have to replace the cable.
Thanks for responding. I already broke it, not knowing that it was that close. Broken/cracked guide/support for the shifter cable in the tunnel. Will have to replace the cable assembly. 🫣
