Hi All,
Need some help with my retractible headlights. One headlamp or the other doesn't flip up all the time. I've tried to manually adjust the motor several times. ( I've had a Fiat X19 and had to manually flip the lights all the time). It will work 2 or 3 times then it will be shy and not flip up. The right one seems to be OK now , for the time being I suppose. The left one is still having the problem. I'll walk by and test it, it'll be fine. Driving it'll be fine. Then after trying it for the 3rd or 4th time, it won't flip up. Anyone experience this? Help please!
Sometimes my right light will not flip up even after replacing the motor. I separated the connection between the motor and the control module cleaned the connection and made sure the connectors fit tightly together. Helped, but still have an concessional no flip up issue. Then I have found backing off the manual headlight adjuster a little will fix it for awhile. Fortunately, I do not have to drvie at night. It is just a fun car,
Thanks, I'll try to clean the connections. Same here, I usually only drive during daylight hours. It's just frustrating because I'd like all systems to be functioning. Again, thanks for the reply.
You may also look at the headlight control module (it's a black square on the passenger side headlight frame with two harnesses going into it) This module has notoriously poor weather seal but is thankfully rather inexpensive and easy to replace.
look at the arms that push the lights up and down. They ride on a small bushing like fitting and if that is worn or buggered up, that can impact them as well.
