Default Crank sensor.

Changed my crankshaft sensor on my ‘97 now it will not start. It ran fine before, but was throwing the
code for a bad crank sensor. I am totally lost if anyone has advice I’ll really appreciate it. Just for context it is a 6 speed. Even though I doubt that matters. Thanks in advance

Where did you buy this new crank sensor ??…hope it wasn’t Amazon or EBay !!…use OEM !!…you ALWAYS check the wiring before condemning the sensor.

Literally just went the Autozone route with the new sensor. It’s not much better than amazon I know but I also didn’t know this was gonna turn into a headache!

Well you may have a bad “new” sensor or a wiring issue.

So put the old sensor back in and see if it runs.

old one did not survive removal. I’ve seen people talking about these things have to be relearned with a bidirectional scanner

I replaced mine with the OEM part, no relearn was required.

In Sevice Info a 97 and 98 C5 does not need this Crankshaft Variation Learn with a factory level or aftermarket scan tool…I didn’t check 99 and 00 but I know my old 2001 required one…the only reason you do this procedure is that the CKP is the PCM’s misfire monitor and this procedure makes sure that it will detect these misfires accurately…the engine will start fine without doing one after replacement.

I put in my very first post thanks in advance, and made it very clear that any help with my issue was appreciated. So for you to insinuate that I am not appreciative of the help is simply off base! As of now the problem is not resolved. I work as a CDL truck driver and drive from before the sunrise till after the sunset. So my weekends are the only time for me to actually get under the car. So I obviously haven’t been able to get under since the first post. Either way last I checked this is a forum where people post questions, answer questions, and have discussions. For you to criticize me for using the forum for exactly what it was intended for is ridiculous and pathetic!
