I’ll try to make this brief. I bought a 2000 automatic with 101,xxx miles a couple months ago. I purchased the car in “limp mode”. There were some error codes, all of which related to communication errors. I’ll post a screen shot. I did a lot of testing and diagnosis with someone who really solid with Corvettes and we didn’t solve it. I sent it to a local shop owned by an ex GM tech and he decided that due to a lot of loose, frayed, and poor wires that I would be best served to buy a new engine wiring harness. I did and it just came in. Will it be horrible to swap it out? Does anyone think this could be causing any the limp mode?

Did the tech show you the wires of concern? Did he explain what caused the damage? Rodents? Previous accident?

Routing behind the engine will be fun, but I assume that the tech is doing the work anyway?

Broad brush answer.....yes. It would be helpful to know what troubleshooting techniques were used to reach his conclusion. The harness would have to have widespread damage from me not to just repair the areas of concern....as opposed to chagning the whole harness.
