hello all i recently swapped my cam in my '01 ls1 and i cant seem to find the answer to a question that i have. i havent started the car yet out of nervousness. my question is that when i was reinstalling the new pushrods all of them "dropped" down after pushing it down with my finger except for one on cylinder #3. the heads were NOT swapped and a 5/16 dowel was inserted all the way into the engine. the engine is at TDC and has been. i did rotate the motor by hand once but the rods werent in i believe i dont know if that has anything to do with it. the rocker arm screwed all the way in and was torqued to spec but instead of it seating normally the spring compressed. this may all just be nothing to worry about but i wanted to get some more experienced insight as i would not like to mess anything up again. again, thank you all in advance
I don't have the best answer for you but perhaps once the rocker assemblies are assembled (with the plugs out) bar the engine over to see how things feel. Keep in mind non of the lifters are pumped up as they've never seen oil pressure.

You should see the pushrods move up and down as you rotate the engine. If you are torquing down a rocker and compressing the spring, you are torquing down on an open valve. This is a great formula for damaging the threads in the head, and just bad practice.
