Headlight Noise
Hey y'all, about a week ago, my pop-up headlights started making a loud noise whenever I put them down on my C5. It sounds like it keeps trying to move them even though they're already down. Does anybody know a solution for this? They still go up and down, but I don't want them to stop working if this keeps happening. Thanks.

Super common problem. The gears strip and will eventually stop working at the worst time. I'm replacing mine now, 2 new Motors with gear assembly just over.$100.00. Some say replace the plastic gear with metal. You must take the motor gear assembly out then take open the gear box and replace (there are 2 different gear box's depending on year) the gear and reassemble. The motor comes with the new gear attached. Why not remove the motor/gear and simply replace it for a few more dollars?. New gear and new motor.
Critics say, the new gear is still plastic. My C5 is 22 years old and the plastic gear still works. If the go off while the engine is running I can't even hear the noise. Truth is, I rarely drive at night and if mine wasn't for sale, I'd just put the Motors in storage for when they don't.
