The advice is mixed, isn't it. :nono:
I decided to make a call to the local exhaust shop. :seeya
They've done it before, 30 minute job, $35.
They have an opening Saturday afternoon, or had an opening. :D
So, about an hour after work on Saturday I'll be :steering:
And I'll have a  for all my friends, thanks guys!

$35 is cheap. I changed mine two years ago. I had the car up on my trailer with the rear wheels just about to come off the trailer. Then I jacked the car up to get the needed clearance from the floor. Even then it was tough getting the muffler to clear the foor. Since I had to squeeze in to unbolt and bolt the mufflers to the flanges I put my back in some interesting positions. I spent the next 8 months visiting the chiropractor at $15 a pop.

Another option is to look for a work place with a ledge to back up to (like a loading dock). If still needing to jack it up it will require less.

BUT, MAKE SURE SOME ONE HELPS SO YOU DON'T BACK CLEAR OFF!!!

All the best. :yesnod:

I started to do this in my garage with a good lift. After getting the rear in the air and just seeing if it was high enough I decided I did not want to be under my vette with all of bolt loosening and tightning, pipes twisting and turning. Beyond my limitations.

Took it to a local muffler shop. Paid a bit more than others ($85.00) but it was well worth every penny and they did all of the work. I also changed my oil while it was up on the lift. Glad I had them do the exhaust switch even though I like to do most of my own simple work (oil and filter changes, plug replacement, etc..)

Second greatest line from a Clint Eastwood movie: Mans got to know his limitations

First greatest: So punk, do you feel lucky today? (I bet you were expecting Go ahead make my day :smash: :smash: )

The Ti system is 'the' system very C5 should have come with.
Looks better in the back.
Sounds better everywhere.
Flows a little better, at least 2002 and 2003.

Several for sale in the C5 Parts For Sale/Wanted section.

I have a large floor jack. It took 2 4x4's to get enough clearance. A bit disconcerting at best jacking from the rear.

I'd do it on a lift if I had the chance.

Vette is back on the road.
A4s ARE more difficult.
Even though the shop had done other C5s (6speeds) they used every tool in the shop.....except the smoke wrench. It took more than an hour and three of them lifting, pulling and pushing. Funny, the old one just would not come out on the passenger side. But once it did the Ti unit slipped right in, in seconds. Go fish?
Ended up being $45, like that's a big deal. Car is together, all is good and the sun is coming out all day tomorrow. Color me gone. :steering:

I did mine in the driveway and jacked her about 3 feet off the ground and the air dam was touching the ground. I will never attempt this again, I'd advise anyone to go to the muffler shop. Of course the new stinger went in like a dream. It ain't worth the risk of dropping all that money on yourself on the ground. :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: :smash: :smash: :smash:
