Hello Vette aficionados. New to the forum new Vette owner. Retired Navy didn't have the flexibility to lug around a Vette and a Harley....not that i'm somewhat stationary I pulled the plug and acquired a C5 / 97 with 12K on the meter. Absolutely only issue is full ac blows real cold on the passenger side and real hot on the drivers side. Thinking its an actuator and the moduler and the wiring harness check good. Thoughts Gang??

Welcome to the forum and congrats on becoming a first time Vette owner. Also, thanks for your many years of service to our country (retired Navy here too).
I am going to move this thread over to the C5 Tech section where other C5 owners can provide you with some helpful information on the HVAC issue your car is having.

Given that this a new-to-you car, I would start by having the system evacuated, leak tested, and properly serviced. That establishes a solid baseline for all troubleshooting, and you will know that the system is solid......and yes, an improperly serviced system will cause the issue you have. Good luck
Sounds like you’re low on refrigerant !!…it’s due to the design of the evaporator on these dual climate control systems…once the passenger side cools down not much left for the driver if low…if your low you have a leak…get that fixed FIRST.
Thanks all. New to how this forum works as well. The AC system was repaired, had a leak, fixed and recharged. Been researching and next steps are resetting the actuator as it seems the problem lies there....we'll see. The challenge is this is my Florida car so need to wait till I get back down. I think I need a Virginia Vette as well. Thanks again all.

Were the repairs done at a shop or a DIYer? C5's are a different animal when it comes to refrigerant, and close will not cut it. It also seems to defy conventional wisdom, that the evaporator would supply cold air to one side of the car and not the other....but alas.....that is exactly how a deficient system in a C5 behaves. I have seen guys tear apart the whole dash to replace an actuator, only to have the same problem.....which involved a improper refrigerant service. In the words of Forest Gump ".....that's all I have to say about that".
