Default 1998 Corvette Issues

Hi Everyone!

First post, so be gentle. My son and I just bought a '98 Corvette. It has few things we need to repair. We want to be able to work on it a little, but I'm not a mechanic. I can work tools and am handy, for what that's worth.

2 main issues:
- The AC blows cold, but there isn't much airflow. We pulled and cleaned the blower fan and it is marginally better, but still not blowing hard enough.
- Within the last couple of weeks, the Traction Control and ABS lights came on, but I can't tell if there is any actual change in how they are working.

I pulled the codes as suggested in another thread:

PCM
P0705 C - Transmission Range Switch Circuit A/T
P1571 H C - TORQUE SIGNAL IS OUT OF THE VALID RANGE (SEE C1277)
P1644 H C - Delivered Torque Output Circuit

TCS
No Comm.

IPC
U1040 H - Loss of Communications with TCS

HVAC
B0361 H C - Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND
B0363 H - Left Actuator Feedback Open

LDCM
B2262 H - Horizontal Position Sensor Fit

RDCM
B2265 H - Horizontal Position Sensor Fault

Any help/explanation would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Congrats on the purchase. If you are going to be doing your own troubleshooting/repairs on this platform you will need :

1) Set of factory service manuals
2) Good scanner
3) DMM
4) Ability to read wiring schematics

These cars must have a good strong battery. Make sure the battery has not leaked to the computer that resides under the battery at some point in its life.
Check/clean all of the grounds:

Lots of good info at the top of the C5 General section. Clean the udders for instance.
Welcome to the forum. There are some really great folks on here...

If it’s auto trans, buy the grommet kit from doorman. The kits crack leaving you unable to shift it. The last time it happened I went underneath shifted to neatral started care someone on brake the underneath Dr side in front rear wheel put lever on trans in Dr, to get it home. First Time this happened replaced shifter cable, I used a shoe string feed it from the top on a lift and someone on the bottom. Welcome! Lights start to make noise get brass gears for headlight motors, you’ll know cause light will stay up or stay closed.

Don’t get hung up with the doomsday posts about the EBCM. Same thing about the harmonic balancer issues.

Do you hear the blower motor speed change as you request higher and higher speed?
Do all your modes switch correctly when requested from the hvac control head-defrost, floor, bilevel, vent, and floor?
