Default LS1 Crate engine corvette C5

Hi need new engine (Long block) for my 2002 C5
Is it possible to buy a LS1 crate long block?
Need help finding engine that is bolt on with out to muck modifications.
I have read about Blueprint and original GM but i dont understand if i can use them (Gen 3...gen4 ls3...and so on)

Rebuild is an option also....But...

Thanks

GM stopped making the ls1 quite a while ago. If you're fixed on replacing the motor, and you want something new, ls3 is likely your best option -- *many* people in here have done that swap. I wouldn't say the swap is trivial, but it's been done many times, and is not beyond the ability of a good mechanic. GM sells a connect and cruise based on the ls3 (brand new with a warranty), and summit and others have tons of options from mild to wild. Though --- depending on your state, you may run afoul of emissions requirements if you drop in a motor that wasn't offered in your car stock.

But that begs the question -- why is wrong with your motor? parts for the ls1 are extremely plentiful, you may be better off (as you suggested) rebuilding.

sure :-)
I assumed he was looking for a new crate motor. if he's willing to go used and is set a swap, there are tons of used ls1's/ ls6 motors out there.

Still begs the question though, what is wrong with the motor?

The LS1/LS6 (Gen III) motors don't exist anymore as off the shelf crate engines. There is such a minimal overbore the factory sleeves can accept, rebuilding a used block is iffy
The easiest thing to to is to convert to an LS3. The LS3 is slightly different for some sensor locations, but pretty much bolts in with minor mods and an ECM tune.

If you want to keep the LS1 top end, Golen can build you a LS3 shortblock with Cathedral port (LS1/2/6) heads

To rebuild the short block and refresh the heads you will need $4-5,000 in parts. Plus removing the engine, checking the torque tube couplers ( manual) For the heads you might as well put in new lifters, springs, rockers, etc. so you are looking at $6,000+ for you to do it.
