C5 Ground Problems?
I have an intermittent code P0410,
My tachometer comes in and out,
And I noticed what I’m pretty sure is a “ground whine” in my sound system.
If I have to put up the top, I just don’t drive the car and I rarely use the stereo, so it took me a while to notice the ground whine.
I had just been resetting the check engine light until I made time to deal with the air pump. Sometimes it goes a long time with no problem, sometimes not long at all. I don’t get the code for either driver or passenger side so it seems like it’s at the actual air pump.
And the dead tach was a rare issue that normally came back alive within five or ten minutes. But now the tach is working less and less, and I noticed its failure seems to correspond with the ground noise in the speakers.
I know these aren’t necessarily connected, but it seems to make sense that a common issue with the ground could be at the heart of this. If the smog pump doesn’t have a good ground wouldn’t that explain the periodic fault?
Any feedback on if I’m all wet? And if not, suggestions on where to start the hunt for the loose ground?
Thanks for any insight.
