i recently purchased a 1998 A4 C5 Corvette with 82k miles. I began experiencing the “pull key wait 10 seconds” without column lock but with the fuel cut off at 2mph. I looked into the issue and installed the LCM5 module with the brown wire mod.
The issue stopped for a week and it gave me zero issues. Until one day i went to turn it on and nothing. This was my first time experiencing the no crank no start security light issue and it has become a daily thing since. After that first time, my car began making a tapping sound that can only be heard inside the cabin and is coming from the passenger side (My guess is something electrical in the BCM). I have attached a video of the sound. This sound is intermittent while im driving and I can hear it while the car is in ACC as well. Typically I leave the key inserted for a minute and it cranks right up, or after unplugging the battery.
I love my C5 but these VATS issues have made the car an intolerable pile of garbage that im too embarrassed to even take out as it does this every day. Any help would be appreciated, I also saw the B0502 and B2721 codes on the display.

So dramatic. Boy did you buy the wrong year if you think this is intolerable.

You clearly dont know what its like to have to do voodoo magic on your car while you're late to work, or have an emergency. Let alone having to explain to everyone that your car did not break down and blow up but is experiencing a glitch. Lol
I don't know what could cause tapping noises in the passenger footwell area, have you thought about just finding a reputable repair shop to take your car to.
If your car truly has VATS issues the Security light will come on and the car will not crank over. The Ignition switch contains contacts that press against the keys resistor pellet and if those contacts are dirty or worn out they will not send the correct signal to the BCM which will not allow the engine to crank over. Try spraying electronic contact cleaner onto the very front of the Ignition switch and on the resistor pellet on the key and insert and remove the the keyand a couple of times, hope this helps.
