Default How Do you pick a CAM???

Who is in charge here...please? Hey it's me again looking for more ADVICE!!!
I originally ordered a Comp Cam 228228/ .588/.588 112 lsa.. agressive.
The time lag on the order and listening more to input from others and reading more signatures, I backed down to the TR 224/224 .563/.563 112 lsa thinking agressive but not far out! Now I'm thinking why aren't I getting the reverse split by TR 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA Would this be agressive but also street friendly? Now ..once I finally take delivery of a CAM I guess I can stop re-thinking and wondering what if? Take me out and shoot me!

I agree that picking a cam is difficult. If you go more agressive than a 224/56x/112, I would definately go with a proven tuner package so you know the parts will all work together.
Look at some of the posts here of people who paid good money for mismatched cam and heads, dyno'd low rwhp, then had to have someone else redo it.

I am going through this pain too. My criteria (in order) are:

1 - Pass smog
2 - Idle not too rough
3 - Not too cruel to the valves.... Longevity... I am keeping the car for MANY years
4 - More HP

Been thinking about the LS6 cam, but getting a lot of flak :)

Any suggestions?

you should have stuck with the first choice IMO:
I understand the theory of reverse split, at least much of it. Since the intake close dictates much of the power a cam makes, to extend it out with a wider intake allows to have less overlap and make power across a broader rpm range. Less overlap will maintain low/mid range torque while the later closing of the intake lobe offers high end power. nice. however, the RS cam you mention still has a lot of overlap at 111lsa, even more with the wider intake lobe.

If you have a set of heads that have been ported to where the exhaust flows are about 85-87% of intake, a straight-up cam will work great.

I am waiting for Brian to get back to me with some flow #s without a pipe. I have done some calculation on successful H & C packages and if memory serves me correctly with a 70-73% I/E exhaust efficiency the hot lick is to use a 4-6 degree longer exhaust duration. Once the #s come back from Brian I will try and figure out a decent cam for the TEA heads. My next cam will probably be a 230/234 .600 111lsa.
