I'm going to install my 4.10s and was reading the service manual and have a few questions. Do you need the special leaf compressor tool? Do I have to remove the tranny or could I just remove the differential without taking out the tranny? Are there any parts besides gear oil I should get before starting the install? Anything else I should be aware of? THANKS :seeya
You don't have to remove the spring. You drop the entire rear suspension with the subframe. You should not need any special tools, but I hope you have a "lift".
No need to remove the tranny, it will drop down far enough to remove the diff. from the back of the tranny, no special tools needed, I am sure a trans jack is nice, but I do mine all the time with just a floor jack.
I will be doing the install at a performance shop so have the tranny jack, lift, etc... Do I need the addiditive for the differential? I am going to use Redline and heard that it already had it in. I currently have Redline in my 3.42 and have no problems. :steering:
