Should I replace my timing set when changing the harmonic balancer?
My ls1 c5 has 88k miles on it and I Wanted to go ahead and do the balancer Its original and the rubber is all cracked. Is doing the timing set really necessary I don't track, road race or autocross the car. The most I do is some spirited driving and a WOT pull every once and a while. What do you guys think replace or wait until a few years down the line when I'm ready to do a cam?

Take a silver sharpie and put some stripes on the front of the balancer, Drive it and see if it slips. If it doesn't slip, drive till you stuff the cam in it. Just keep an eye on the stripes on the balancer...
