Default 2000 Corvette RFA Question

So, last year my key fob stopped doing anything.

I have swapped the RFA to another 2000 unit and it worked for awhile... the TPMS still works and the key fob is new with a new battery.

I'm thinking of getting a 2002 model RFA. I understand I'd need the right key fob to match up with this but as I understand it,

Does this seem like I'm on the right path?

I think 2001 and newer have a totally different system than the 2000 and older.
Nothing is impossible though, what exactly do you have in mind?

I'm getting different answers when I do searches on the Internet. Some say it takes computer reprogramming if you're gonna upgrade to the newer style RFA. Others say it plugs right into the older style and you just reprogram your key fob. Also, the TPMS works just fine, which makes me question the whole thing.

Try searching this forum again. There are multiple members who have updated their 97 to 00’s with the 01 and up system and with details of how to do it.

The TPMS sensors and the Fobs are not interchangeable between the two designs.

I have a 2000 car myself . 97-00 FOB/TMPS are not interchangable with 01-04 . You have to change the RFA module if you want use 01-04 fob/tmps sensors .

Here is a very good summary of TMSP info

Absolutely untrue. I have read a lot of misinformation online about C5s over the years. Can you direct me to where you read that?

Forum member Oelarse has posted a great link. Read it all.

THAT is TOTALLY incorrect. '01-up WILL NOT WORK on the '97-'00, guaranteed-Unless you change other components, too. If you're using the info from this site for other tech info, I'd suggest ignoring anything else they have online. Their TPMS info is absolutely incorrect.....

Thank you for this. My TPMS works fine.

My remote does not. I have bought an new remote and tried to program it but it is not recognized.

Does the TMPS part of the receiver operate separately from the keyless system?

It sounds like people are adamant here that a 2001-2004 RFA and a matching keyfob will not work plugged into a 2000.

If it is that simple, my work here is done.

If someone HAS made it work, I'd like to know how.

Thanks everyone!

The Fob's and the TMPS sensors communicate with this RFA receiver. The receiver is connect to the serial bus an the BCM.

I have a Autel TMPS device. I can activate fob buttons and the Autel receive/register the signal from the fob
Buttons just like my Maxi TMPS shows below.

Maybe you can check this at a wheel shop like I do?
Also check the soldering on your fob prior to this check

It sounds like you do not believe 20 years of owners saying the same thing. Look up the part number for yourself.
