Took my C5 (2002 auto) out tonight to test some new LED low beam bulbs I had installed. It has been in winter storage (I'm in the UK) and so it's the fist time I had used it in about 3 months.
I started the car, put it in drive, took my foot off the brake and the car started to move forward (all normal so far) .... but after about half a rotation of the wheels, it comes to a sudden stop (like there's a brick or something in the way of a tyre). I check under the car. Nothing there. I put it in reverse to back it up a bit. Tried again....same thing. - sudden stop. After a few goes of doing this (reverse, drive, reverse, drive) the car finally gets past whatever is blocking it and eases its way out of the garage.
This is the second time it's happened after a long period of non-use.
Does anyone have any ideas to what might be happening here?
Thanks in advance.
No clue, was the emergency brake engaged while it was in storage?
Yes, but if it was that, then how come the car was able to move forward a foot or so before it came to a stop. Wouldn't a stuck emergency brake prevent the car from moving at all?

Ok. So you had this problem where the car would not move. Instead of that being a .....I'd better not try to move it, and see what is going on moment..... you decided to go back and forth until it moves freely. So you ask the forum about this vague issue, and you get random responses, then challenge the responders to justify their responses. Come on mate!

I Google'd that one and it says to lube the nut....?
No particular noise anywhere or at any one corner of the car? No feel of drag one way or the other? Are your rotors rusted or pads corroded to them? You might see a pad pattern on the disc(s) now that they're rotated free if this was the case.
The Ebrake pad could theoretically seize inside the drum. And those never grab the car aggressively in park unless you adjust them to work properly I find.

Responding to a question from a fellow member is not a "challenge". I was merely pointing out that if something in the brake system was stuck then surely the car would not have moved at all. I would have thought that kind of information would be really useful to the members who took the time to try and help me. Not sure why you thought I was being salty.

Automatic?
Hi. No there were no noises and no feel of drag. Everything seemed normal until it stopped. Rotors and pads are fine. Yes it's automatic (2002). Thanks
