Driver side headlight stays up when engine off?

Driver side headlight stays up when engine off?

Hello, new here. Just got '04 C5 within past year. Had to replace battery. When I did, driver side headlight stays up. Any ideas?

While it is most likely the headlight gears or motor, it would be best to start by checking if the motor is getting power.

If you do end up repairing the headlight mechanism, here is my writeup from a few years back. I replaced the golden rods and gears.

Often it is the plastic gear that wears out or brakes teeth, the popular replacement is bronze gears offered by several vendors. Turn the lights off and off 2 or 3 times and see if it comes unstuck. If the headlight foes down when the other one goes up then more than likely the control unit is the light has to be replaced. Both problems have happened to me over 20+ years of owning my C5

definitely sounds like the early stages of a headlight gear going bad.
