Starting getting the pull key for 10 second message and column lock message so bought the LMC5 to prevent any issues. Had the car in the shop dealing with some oil leaks and they installed the LMC5. No issues first couple start ups and no messages. However, drive the car back home today and start getting all the lights popping - ABS/traction control/column lock/service vehicle soon, etc. This car has a new battery (1 month old) so can't be that. Only thing that changed was the LMC5 install and they did the brown wire mod with it. Planning to bring the car back this week but just trying to understand what the hell could have gone wrong.
Looks like all the lights turning on may have been due to the battery not being on the tender for a week or so. Had it plugged in since parking it yesterday and no pull key message/traction/abs/low oil messages. Seems like the LMC5 may be super sensitive to battery charge.
However, I still am getting the active handling issue that popped up after the balancer install - code TCS 1214 and 1286. Cleared them to see if they come back as they are history codes. Nothing showing as current and this was it it’s checking the DIC as the active handling message came on.
C1286 is related to the steering wheel position sensor.
Do you have a service manual?
What year model is your C5?
C5s in general are sensitive to low battery voltage. Keeping it on a battery tender if you're not going to be using it for a few days is a good practice. If everything is working right then sitting for a couple weeks is fine. But they often have a small parasitic draw that can go unnoticed on a daily driver.

It’s a 2002 manual. Just had the balancer replaced and lmc5 installed right before getting these issues.
