Default Fuel system for LS 383 stroker

Hello!

I am currently in the process of having a 383 stroker engine built for my 2002 Z06, and it dawned on me, I may be pushing the limits of the factory fuel system. currently the fuel system in the car has the stock pump and stock injectors. What should I upgrade in the fuel system to support the new build? Planned engine specs are as follows: Forged 383 rotating assembly with ICON FHR pistons with 3.2cc reliefs, EPS 236/248 .604/.604 lift 110+3 lsa cam, AFR Mongoose 230 heads with 62cc chambers, FAST 92 intake and LS2 throttle body, LG Super Pro headers and catless mids, OE Titanium mufflers. not sure what to expect power wise, hoping for 550-600 horse at the crank.

Thanks in advance!

A single 450 will cover 600 crank when a single 255 covers 600rw, so it is a very safe margin for error. Factory lines will cover the need. Injectors will need to be upgraded and on that I refer to your tuner for which brand they are most comfortable working with.

If you ever need additional pumps because you change plans with the car it is easy enough to add an external pump and lines.

This NA build is easy. If you go up from here then the fuel system can become pricy.

If you haven't purchased that cam yet I would reconsider.
Tony Mamo who designed your AFR 230 heads built a NA 383 with 225 heads, (20 years ago)
same intake & tb used a 234*/238* 114*+2* that made 585 @ crank, then a
239*/243* made 594, BUT lost a big chunk of low and mid-range torque.
I have never seen Tony use more than a +8* Exhaust split
on a NA application with a good exhaust system, usually 4-6*.
The AFR heads have very good exhaust to intake efficiency and do not require large splits.
Just my .02

I appreciate the insight. the cam was purchased several years ago for a different build that fell through. I figured I would use it in the 383 because it should yield good power and the extra cubes would compensate for the low end torque deficiency. But I also had the thought to scoop a 2-piece timing cover so I can swap to a different cam without having to pull the whole front end off if I decide I need to go a different route. the reason I scooped that cam from Geoff at EPS is because it was the next iteration of the T-rex cam that I had in my last build. I enjoyed how the T-rex performed overall, so I figured an updated version would do even better.

A single 255 pump would be fine with a set of stock ls3 injectors. That pump will let you keep the stock filter/regulator unit. Any pump above that will need an external regulator and filter.

Where's the best place to source a pump that I can spider into the stock module?

That cam is similar to the cam I'm running in a centrifugal supercharged 416. I agree with Navy Blue. I'd sell that cam you have and get something similar to the cam Tony used.

They're like 90 to 120 bucks. Google is your friend.

I believe it should since everyone (engine builders) have know for decades individual ports being fed fuel respond better and over a much greater toque curve. Mine is controlled/managed by Haltech who products are in use all over the world. I was not overly concerned about HP numbers with a stock cam, but more about drivability.

The power under the curve expands greatly with ITBs.

Which intake system is that? I know of two for LSs.

+1 for Haltech. Running an R3 over here soon.

I meant the ITB intake. They popped up here as a topic two weeks ago and there were two primary models. I forget the brand names so I was curious which system this one is.

A new contender enters the ring. About half price of the other two we looked at as well as a finished product. Excellent. Not an exorbitant price at all for someone who either doesn't mind cutting their hood or running a custom plenum under a cowl. I think one of the others had longer runners, reaching across the valley for each cylinder.

Count me in for the video when this thing gets running. What heads/cam/compression are stashed under it?
