Default What's next?

I've done the obligatory exaust and air intake. So what is my next move? Reading this forum is like looking at a chinese menu, everything looks good but too many choices. I have a 02 6 speed coupe and will do some road courses this year. I place myself in your capable hands. Thanks

Let me look into my crstal ball and I see headers in the future.

Which ones?? I'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions.

Congratulations on the mods and good luck sorting through the information you are about to get.

How much do you want to spend and what areas are you looking to improve (power, handling, etc?)

I guess I'm looking for both, power and handeling. As for expences, it would depend on the mod and what I could expect.

For handling I would suggest a sway bar upgrade, Z06, Z51 or what I have, the Hotchkis package.

For power I suggest porting the heads and bigger rear, 3.73s, 3.90s or even 4.10s.

You may need some stickier tires too.

Best of luck with your mods.

Chuck

If you are going to race on circle/auto-x tracks then you will likely experience some potential problems with overheating the engine and the tranny. I would STRONGLY recommend that you consider a heavy duty radiator like MMS offers AND I would also recommend a heavy duty tranny cooler (e.g. B&M 28000). I would also recommend stainless lines with AN fittings.

Once you have done the above then you can pretty much modify the engine and tranny at will and know that you are doing everything you can to prevent or at least reduce excessive heat that could hurt one or both. I did the opposite of what I am recommending to you and got away with it. If I had to do it all over again, I would have actually upgraded the cooling system BEFORE I did any other mods, just for the peace of mind. I realize that this isn't the "sexiest" recommendation you will get in this thread, but it may be one of the more helpful IF as I suspect, you may wind up becoming another member of Mod Aholics Anonymous! :D :hurray:  :chevy
