Just woke up my MY 2000 C5 after its 3-month winter nap on Tuesday. Started up strong, changed the oil, and have put 30-40 miles on it since. Yesterday afternoon, my son was driving it and it randomly died somewhere in between 30 to 40 mph. His report is that nothing seemed amiss on gauges or felt odd in terms of how it was running, but that it just shut off. He was able to stop and immediately it started right up again and drove it home without issue. Reviewed codes last night and saw no current codes. What should I be on the lookout for in trying to determine what happened?
Possibly crankshaft position sensor but only a guess…this can be caused by a number of things as you can see in the video below…advanced diagnostic equipment is necessary so you don’t fire the parts canon.

I had a similar issue several years ago and my go to tech guy changed my ignition switch and have not had any further issues with the engine shutting down during driving.

Yep. Bad contact on the ignition switch will shut down the BCM, IPC, and PCM all at the same time.
