So while installing a back up camera on my 2000 couple I had to tap into the back up lights for power. I accidentally touched the positive and negative wires so now I have no back up lights. I checked the fuses, relays and the wiring and found all to be good. So my question is did I fried my BCM ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
How exactly did you check fuses, relays and wiring ??…the BCM only applies a ground for theft deterrent operation so it’s not the BCM…what are your electrical skills and what electrical equipment do you have ??
So you checked fuse 21 BTSI BU with key on and the test light illuminates on both test points ??….so the relay you checked was APPROACH fuse 2 ??…if I can remember that is a 5 terminal relay and 12 volts normally goes across 2 terminals and when the BCM grounds the coil side of the relay it flips over to the other terminal…so with key ON and when the car is put in reverse does the test light illuminate on one of those 5 terminals ??…the light green wires at the lights are your 12 volt supply.
Your relay should be numbered 30 and 87 and 87A…you should have continuity between 30 and 87 unless the BCM grounds the coil side of the back up relay…if you had a direct short to ground and I don’t know what wires that were involved you would certainly blow a fuse.
