I have a 2000 C5 Standard Coupe. I had the windshield replaced, now my HUD doesn't work, they obviously didn't use the correct windshield. This is at my local Chevrolet dealer. So, we are doing battle now. Now, their claim is that the correct HUD windshield is no longer available. Has anyone else run into this problem? GM Built near a quarter of a million C5 Corvettes, I don't know how many were built with the HUD option, but it seems to me like that glass should be available via aftermarket. Has anyone else had this problem?
The windshield type has nothing to do with making the HUD work. Standard glass may be a bit dimmer than HUD glass. Something else is wrong. Try adjusting the up/down and brightness.
Safelite website indicates the HUD glass is available. I wouldn't buy based on that information but you might give a couple shops a call and see if anyone is actually showing stock anywhere.
I also agree with jc, the HUD will still work even with non-HUD glass, it just won't be as bright.
I can look from the outside of my windshield down into the HUD projector and see the display. Have to fuss around to get the right angle but it's clearly visible, reversed since it's not being reflected that way.
If you can't see yours at all they disconnected or broke it.

The HUD specific Windshield has a special reflective layer for it inbetween the glass sheets. I had mine replaced back in August due to a damn cooler hitting me on the highway. Guy who did it said I got the last one in the country.
I have had my windshield replaced with a conventional windshield and couldn't see any difference. Maybe my old eyes couldn't see what my younger eyes once did, idk. BUT, my HUD display does work fine. Either your brightness has been turned down, your up/down adjustment is way off, both adjustments are off, or you had a failure somewhere in the system that happened at the same time. You'd think it should be working fine when replacement was done, because the dealer should've checked it to assure it was working when you picked it up...

I've read a dozen times the HUD does not require the special windshield, it makes no difference. If the HUD is not shining at all but it was when you bought it in, thsts a different story.
