Default P0463 code

2003 Chevrolet corvette

Hi everyone! I’ve been searching through google and this forum and would like some help to walk me through my fuel tank gauge issue.

I have a p0463 code. It’s weird, my fuel tank functions normally I’d say below 40% of being full.

if I have more than 40% fuel, especially more than half a tank. My fuel gauge is erratic. It shows empty, and sometimes the correct level.
how can I troubleshoot and figure out what’s the exact problem?
I seen other posts and people share
diagrams, I’m lost by that. I know how to use a multimeter and I’m handy with tools, however I don’t know how to read electrical diagrams

Please and Thank you

p.s I have ran Techron through the car a few times and it hasn’t helped. I think the issue is something else.

As my fuel gauge works but intermittently stops. For example, let’s say I fill up to full tank. It can work for the first couple miles and than show empty, and than back to correct level and than again back to empty.

My first C5 (2002) had the gauge issue. Initially Techron solved the problem after one dose and three miles. It came back and I continued Techron applications. It took several tanks of gas and multiple bottles of Techron before the problem went away. Now I put in a bottle four times a year on another car that has not had the problem yet. I use cheap gas. I'd recommend continued use of Techron and patients before addressing the sending unit in the tank. Just sayin ....

Unfortunately there is no one fix for every trouble code…if you have electrical experience and you can follow the troubleshooting instructions below this may help you…good luck !!

In my failures I don't recall my gauge being erratic. I had more than half a tank and the gauge went to empty possibly suggesting I had a different problem.

After adding what seems like 'gallons' of Techron to my 04, the gas gage still acts bazar and go to empty at fill up. But after driving a few miles hitting some road bumps and making sharp turns it returns to acting normally. I just learned to live with the issue and write it off as another electrical glitch that plaques the C5 platform.
