Default LED Headlight gremlin

The previous owner of my 2002 Vette Kart had the headlights wired to an aftermarket switch—but all other lighting went to the factory switch. That seemed odd to me, but I may have inadvertently figured out why.

Thinking I was making things better, I rewired the headlights to the headlight sub harnesses. My thought was, wire them to the low beam power/ground and they would work just like the factory low beams.

I de-pinned black/yellow on the driver’s side, and black/green on the passenger side and then wired them directly to my aftermarket LEDs.

good news:

The lights now work with the factory headlight stalk switch.

bad new:

They never fully turn off. On is on. But “off” (either with the key or the switch) the LEDs glow dimly. Apparently, they continue to draw some power even when the switch is off AND/OR when the car is off.

Not sure if this is germane, but there is a module on the passenger side that “hums” when the lights are running and plugged in.

Any ideas?

It can't draw current through an open switch, so somehwere in that mess, something is connected...maybe even a bad MFS. What voltage do you read at the yellow and tan/white wires when the lights will not shut off? Have you tried pulling relay 44 in the I/P electrical center?

The module you hear humming is the headlamp door control module. Not sure why you even have the connected.

Thanks for ID’ing the module. I unplugged it and it fixed the problem. I guess the car was trying to do something with the headlight doors and that was feeding enough power to the headlight circuit to dimly light those LEDs. With that module removed and unplugged, the headlights work as they should.

Thanks again👍

Make sure you pull fuse 3 and 4 in the underhood electrical center. I would also bag the connectors and zip tie away.
