You have that backwards. The rears have axle support and the cheaper MPI's work fine. The front aren't as well supported and the MPI v1 experience some leaking. However there is a v2 out there.

If you don't autox or track you'll probably be fine with basic bearings. If you don't want to have to do the job again I'd probably spring for at least the MPI bearings. Replace them in pairs though. The zr1 style flanges are a little thicker.
