Hoping that someone in this amazing group of people can help me out. I just inherited my father's 2000 convertible. The keyless entry hasn't worked properly since 2017. In 2018 he took it to be repaired and the note on the service order of the time says "nec to reprogram both transmitters. Remote failed will have to buy one." The dealer/mechanic mentioned to him at that time something about replacing modules - I'm just going from my memory of what he told me but he decided he didn't want to pay to replace any more parts so he just used the key to unlock the car. Fast forward to now and I replaced the batteries in the remotes and they worked for two days. I reprogrammed again and they worked for a couple more days. Any suggestions? The service manual seems very convoluted to me when I try to make sense of it. There are no codes when I hook up the scanner. Door modules were replaced in 2016 and all functions (lock, unlock and windows up/down) work so I think the door modules aren't the issue. TPM works as well. I'm at a loss so any help is much appreciated!

What about checking codes through the DIC? I would be surprised if you do not have an RFA codes. How old are your FOBs?
I just went through this with my 2001. Open the key fob and pop out the board. Clean the contacts and the back of the rubber buttons with alcohol or glass cleaner on a paper towel. Mine were dirty from 25 years of use, and cleaning them fixed it for me.
When my ‘99 does not respond to the unlock, I press the lock and then the unlock. It seems like when the car sits unused for a few days, that is when it acts up.
The other thing that may work if the lock and then unlock does not is to press both buttons until the horn sounds.
That worked for now, just need to see if I can find a long term solution!
If you are referring to the press lock and then unlock, I have had my car for 10 years and this is the only thing that has worked for me. I will try cleaning the contacts under the buttons and see if that helps.

Before I did the cleaning, I tried these, and none worked for me:
1. New Battery.
2. Pressing the LOCK/UNLOCK on the fob near the car. (Didn't work)
3. Reprogrammed the fob through the DIC. (Fob was never recognized by DIC).
That's when I cleaned the fob, I was surprised by how much dirt and oil were behind it. Fob 1 was the only one we used for the car in 25 years, Fob 2 was the spare and clean, it just needed a battery.
Hopefully you figure this out. Electrical gremlins are a pain to deal with.
Heads up. Over the last 2 years, my son and a friend had their non Vette cars stolen right in front of their homes. Both had home cameras that clearly showed the thief had a 'device' in hand.to gain entry and then start the car. Police said they had fob readers easily purchased on the 'Net' and apparently the cars were previously found and watched when the owner used the fob to open, the reader did its job. Although my '04 Vert is not one that I suspect is not high on the list to steal, I am old school and use the key to unlock the car for entry.
