Hey guys my 2001 c5 has been dying when it hits the rev limiter in gear. not an abrupt stall but it slowly revs down and doesn’t take any gas no matter throttle position. the car did not do this before my tune for my cam. what could be causing this? my tuner said he’s never seen a car do that before. injectors are at 90% duty cycle at WOT
Do you have an automatic transmission, if so set the shift RPM from 1st to 2nd gear down 100RPM. The computer can’t tell the transmission to shift fast enough because it’s a Nintendo type computer in the car. That might help it from bouncing off the rev limiter.

Yes it is an auto, the car shifts in time in normal drive but when i have it in manual mode and hits the limiter is when it dies. it shifts by itself fine
I myself don't possess tuning knowledge, making a reasonable assumption that the tune is the culprit since the problem didn't start occurring until after the tune.
Manual mode?
The 4L60 will do the 1-2 manually no problem.
The 2-3 however is a problem.
As soon as you move the lever to 3, the PCM follows the WOT shift tables. If too close to the table RPM, the trans doesn’t have time to do the shift and says FU, I’m hitting the rev limiter.
....only it does not really die.....just a novice explaining what happens when the PCM pulls timing/cuts fuel.....and will not accept any more throttle input.

As to why it dies I have no idea.
Well i figured that, i’m not trying to get it to not hit limiter, im just trying to find why it dies when it does. it doesn’t die in Park or neutral, only in gear

But the weird part, if i have it in say 3, and it “dies” (slowly revs down doesn’t accept throttle). it then shift into D, the car dies completely and loses all battery etc

...and it did not do this before the PCM was tuned.......so what do you think is the next step?

I have no clue lol that’s why i need yalls help, the tuner said he had no clue what’s causing it and he couldnt get it to not do it, at first it would do it in P/N too but he fixed that, but couldnt resolve when it would do it in gear

I'd say! OP-there is a possibility that the tuner still has your original tune. If he does, have him upload it back into the PCM and see if that cures it. If it does, as someone mentioned earlier, it's in the new tune. As also mentioned, if the tune is the issue, it's time for a new tuner...

well the car won’t even run on the stock tune anymore since it’s cammed and has some other stuff
Got ya on not running on the stock tune file. Mine won’t either. It won’t even start.
I am a tuner, learned on my own C5 starting in 2012.
So let me ask. Is this a speed density tune? Does it have a MAF?
Is your tuner hands on or is this remote tuning?
Did it get on a dyno?
Are there any logs available that caught it in the act?
Maybe talk about all the mods done. And how it behaves in normal driving etc.
