Default Clutch replacement help

Hello everyone, I recently just “finished” a clutch replacement on my 1999 C5, everything went pretty smoothly however when I started the car back up after putting it all back together the clutch is making a terrible knocking sound like a bolt is hitting something though I did torque everything to the correct spec, I know it’s not something engine related because the motor was completely fine before starting this job but the sound is coming from the bell housing. I took off the inspection plate and still can’t see anything. I replaced the slave cylinder, clutch, pressure plate and pilot bearing, along with the rubber bushings inside of the torque tube. Releasing or pressing the clutch pedal doesn’t stop the noise either. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any help is greatly appreciated!

What bolts did you use for flywheel to engine?? arp is known to hit clutch. Is it rpm related??

The flywheels bolts are the stock ones, I torqued them in a star pattern as well in steps. Should I have gotten new ones? They seemed like they were in good condition. It’s definitely faster than the engine rpm. My vette is having other issues causing it to run very poorly i’m still trying to figure out but they appeared at the exact same time my clutch went out, but it idles like crap around 400-500 rpm but the sound is faster than that so i’m thinking it’s something clutch related

No i used my tock bolt over and over. But i think its recommended. No problems here but you diff have to go back in there so why not get new ones cheap.. Maybe you got unlucky with a fautly clutch that happens. If i muck one up i just find another one in my parts container from the other clutches change.

Yeah i’m gonna try and take it apart today after I get off work and see what’s up and order new bolts for the flywheel. I’ll check if my clutch and order a replacement if I need to. All the parts I installed were just OE replacements and the slave cylinder is actuating the clutch correctly so I don’t think it’s that, Might just have a faulty clutch like you said
