Had a leak at the hardline fitting and we tried to swap out the line with no luck, thread wasn’t good so needing to replace the rack. After reading many threads on this, need to get some thoughts. Should I replace with a used (37k miles), good condition rack for 150 or go with a rebuilt one from lonestar caliper for 450? Seems like both are a crapshoot. Turnone isn’t really an option - car is at the shop with the rack removed and they can’t keep it there for the amount of time it would take to get the rack back.
You’re in a pickle. Car is already at a shop with the rack out. Take your chances on whatever you decide, get it back together and hope for the best. 37,000 mile used one might have dried out seals. Get the refurbished one…???
Yea - not the best situation to be in. Is there a typical mileage these things go out? I’m my car has 110k on it, so not surprised the rack was worn in certain places but wasn’t leasing at the seals themselves from what I can tell, just the hardline connections.

What was the failure? Cross-threaded? Cracked fitting? Loose?
