Who's got stainless steel long tube headers? What kind have you got? Where did you get them? Price? Problems with installation? What kind of RWH improvement?
SLP's are stainless AND coated. I think the total price is around $800+.
Mike :)
SLP's are 409 (magnetic) stainless, and not to be confused with the corrosion-resistant 300 series stainless. They will rust just like mild steel, which is why they are coated, they need to be.
Re: stainless steel long tube headers (Bob Chapman)
Stainless Works makes an excellent and very affordable set of 304 Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers. They have 1 3/4" diameter primary tubes and a 3" collector. There are probably 25-30 forum members that I know of with these headers and the usual gains without PCM programming are usually 12-15rwhp and usually over 20rwhp when apropriate air/fuel changes are made with PCM tuning.
Stainless Works is also just about ready to release a mid x-pipe with or without cats th to go with these headers so it will be a true bolt-on package like the FLPs.
Their headers are $999 with 1/4" flanges and $1099 with 3/8" flanges. No coating is necessary on these headers as the 304 stainless will most likely outlast the car they are on.
If anyone is interested in a set of these headers, or has any questions about them, please feel free to drop me an email!
another off question.....what's the application and why the difference between the flange thickness....and do you know what the other competitors offer
Good to hear about the Stainless Works Headers. The ZR1 guys really like their work, and it looks like the C5 headers have the same quality work.
What size will the mid pipes be 3 inch? I would think their dual 3 inch system would be to much for a H & C car. Has anybody tried this and if so how is the bottom end tq?

SLPs are a coated stainless steel (409) and not a true Stainless Steel 304
I personally would opt for the (as you say not true stainless) 409 COATED, as the coating will help keep underhood temps DOWN, increase the exhaust velocity and the finish will stay looking good. The "true" 304 stainless will tarnish ( turn ugly brown within a few heat cycles) and keep underhood temps UP. Both will last indefinitely. I believe SLP's have a lifetime warranty as to rusting. They are the only header for the C5 on the market, I know of, that are "tuned" for the sequence of the exhaust pulses. That is also a plus for making HP and TQ. So what's the benefit of "true" UNCOATED Stainless, non-tuned design, as to a COATED "untrue stainless" () TUNED, HEAT insulating header  I am not trying to push these headers but some people might misinterpret the "not true stainless" item, making them seem inferior because of this lessor quality material, and miss out on the real benefits of this particular design.
Re: stainless steel long tube headers (Bob Chapman)
Hi the LGM LT headers are made entirely of stainless steel and feature 1 3/4 x 32" primary tubes. The 2200 price mentioned is for the complete system including the headers with merge collectors, interchangeable 3" straight off road pipes. and 3" high flow cats. The system is complete from front to catback, ready to bolt in. The straight pipes and cats are v-flanged and indexed for a perfect bolt in everytime. We also have an optional 300 3" x-pipe that goes in place of the pipes/cats too. If you would like any more information on the headers give us a call.

Thanks for the helpful responses guys - I think I've narrowed it down to two systems- either the LGM package [pricey but includes hi-flow cats] or the Stainless Works system [about half the price of the LGM]. In about 3 months the snow will be gone up here and I'll get moving in this mod.

If you itemize the purchase:
SS/TPIS headers $995
Race collectors $600
Random Cats $300
Off Road pipe $100
V-band clamps $75 x 4
Cost: 2370
Why not order the LGM headers?

Because, maybe you don't want all that stuff? Some guys just want a set of headers for their car.

You can buy just the headers with the racing merge collectors for just $1595. with a "V" flange clamps and either 3" or 3 to 2.5" stubbys to connect to your original system.
