Default DIC buttons not functioning, tested good with ohmmeter

Howdy,

I have a non functional DIC (button cluster)

In all seriousness. The reset button stopped working a long time ago, and I have the tpms warning that needs to be cleared so I can’t really test the others. I took the IPC out of the car and ohm-ed out the pins on the back of the DIC cluster. All buttons short to ground (I identified it as the grey wire) properly. And return to open upon release.

Putting the cluster back in the car I tested my continuity from the grey dic ground to chassis ground. 0 ohms - good.

Even tried jumping the reset wire directly to grey and chassis ground with a bit of wire. Non functional on both counts.

Any one have any ideas other than buy a new IPC as suggested in most posts I found on this topic?

thanks

your DIC buttons should have a feel to them like there is a spring in them. when they go out as your reset button has the chip in thee instrument panel fails and the only way to repair is to replace the instrument panel. sorry thats not what you wanted to hear, look up vettnuts and see what he has

painful, thanks for the pointer to the right guy.

spring feel is currently good, but I suppose it’s definitely possible there was a time when it was stuck. Sounds like that continuous short fries a part of the board?
