My windows have a lot of play when they are up. I also get water coming in between where the window pillar meets the targa. With the door open, measuring at the top of the window, there is about 1/2 inch of movement. I don't have another c5 to measure against, but is this normal? I had the door card off and movement is coming between the window bracket and the track. It rocks back and forth along the 2 points shown in the red in the pic. Just wanted to check before ordering new regulators.
Morning, I am very interested in this post, I have the same issue. My window is not tight, it is loose when up and down as I can hear it in the door. The window works fine, just the loose glass. My thoughts are that the PO pushed on the glass when closing? Anyway, as I read through the posts on windows, it seems that it might be loose on the brackets and I can just tighten them, is that the case? Or should I have a window regulator on hand when I pull off the door panels?
I took my door apart a few days ago. The bolt in the middle will tighten the window clamp. Mine is not loose, but it looks like either the bushings are shot or the metal around the bushings are bent. I'm guessing there shouldn't be any play between the silver window bracket and the black rail. Just a warning on the vapor barrier, mine crumbled and needs to be replaced.
Thanks for the warning on the vapor barrier, didn't even know that was a thing. My concern about opening up the door panel is having everything I need to repair and put it back together. Did you buy a new window regulator? Are the parts outlined in Red on your first post included with the regulator? I am just not sure if I need a regulator to repair my issue as the window moves up and down without issue, its just flapping around, you can hear it flapping inside the door when the window is down and you open/close the door.
Taking the door apart is pretty easy, but I'm going to have to build my own vapor barrier (butyl tape and plastic like a more modern car) since the passenger side part is not available anywhere. Also from what I've read, a pigtail needs to be spliced in at least on the passengers side for the electrical connection.
