Default After bleeding the brakes, TCS C1247

After having the traction control/abs unit out of the car, the brakes had to be bled. We did that, and all seemed fine. After about 10-15 minutes of interstate driving, the check engine light came on, and I got a 28-TCS C1247, and a 10-PCM P0410. The second one is because I have my smog pump disconnected. I don't know what to do about the traction control/abs code. The brakes are good, and everything is fine, but the engine light is on. What should I do?

What is the suffix on the C1247 H or HC?

If it is just an H it may be caused from you bleeding the brakes when the igntion is on. Clear the codes. If there is a C for current problem be very careful. You could have a system failure. How is the brake fluid level has it gone down from a leak? Is everything tight? How did you bleed the ABS unit?

Forn GM:
Circuit Description
The EBCM monitors the Brake Pressure Differential Switch to turn off Traction Control and Active Handling if a pressure loss is detected in the hydraulic brake system.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
DTC C1247 can be set anytime, if the EBCM detects the Brake Pressure Differential Switch has been grounded due to loss of brake pressure or a short to ground.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
TCS/Active Handling are disabled.

Indicators that turn on:
RED Brake Warning indicator
Car Icon (TCS indicator)
Messages displayed on the DTC:
Service Traction System
Service Active HNDLG
Conditions for Clearing the DTC

Condition for DTC is no longer present and scan tool clear DTC function is used.
Fifty ignition cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.
Diagnostic Aids

DTC C1247 could be set during a hydraulic brake system bleeding procedure if the ignition switch is in the ON position.
It is very important that a thorough inspection of the wiring and connectors be performed. Failure to carefully and fully inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis, causing part replacement with reappearance of the malfunction.
An intermittent malfunction can be caused by poor connections, broken insulation, or a wire that is broken inside the insulation.
If an intermittent malfunction exists refer to Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagrams, Diagnostic Aids.

I have a bunch of codes, and I'm pretty sure all of them say H. The C1247 says H. I had a friend bleed the brakes out for me. He works at a dealership. I just did what he told me. Pumped it a bunch of times, then hold. Did that for all four wheels 2 or 3 times around. I topped it off just after we finished. I just checked the level, and its down a good bit after driving it. I thinking thats where the problem could be. Everything was fine after we did it, but not until about 10-15 minutes of driving did the code come up, so I'm thinking that it went down some.

2 thoughts.

1. The ABS needs too be bled and that has to be done with a scan tool.

2. You have a leak somewhere.

That brake fluid that is now missing had to go somewhere and it either went to the ABS unit or it's leaking.

The TCS code will not cause the engine light to come on only the traction control warning, most likely it's the 0410 code thats causing the light, reset all of your codes so that the modules are completely clear and then see what comes back

BTW - the air pump only runs for the first couple minutes of engine operation and then shuts off, so if you were driving down the freeway when the light came on, more than likely it's not because the air pump is disconnected

Had same thing happening after I replaced rotators & calipers. As long as your brakes are bled, the solution is slamming your brakes to activate abs and reset brake pressure differential switch. Hope this helps people in the future
