He likely has no idea what a roller cam vs. a flat tappet cam is. A cam's a cam, and he read these instructions somewhere on the internet so they must be right!
Feel free to post some documentation on break in procedure from any cam manufacturer to answer the OP's question.

For best results follow the manufacturer's recommendations. That's always a better starting point than some random goober on the internet with no vested interest in your project.
It is pretty well documented by many engine builders that they like to heat cycle the springs before running on the dyno. I had my LS7 heat cycled. Spent a half hour one day on an engine stand unit with self contained fuel and cooling systems. I attended the dyno session in person. The builder ran it the day before on the self contained unit to cycle the springs, dyno'd the next day. It may be the reason my dual springs were still in spec after 50,000 miles, but I can't prove that, of course.
