Re: Anyone got Zweyer Wolf wheels (West Coast Corvette)
C5-VERT,
You haven't seen these in the past two years becuase they have only been out for a few months.
We have 2 sets on order as we speak, they should be here in a week or two. The lead time for our original order was quoted at 4-5 weeks. I'm sure with the responce we have seen so far that we will be stocking these in various sizes, as we get into the Spring rush.
Makes sense. I really was not sure how long the rims have been around.
I wouldn't get too excited. These wheels are really heavy. I asked Edge Racing and a rep told me that the front 18 x 9.5" is 27 lbs and the rear 19 x 11" is 30 lbs. They're great looking and the price is really attractive but if those weight numbers are correct they're too heavy for me. If those weights are in error I'll be the next in line for a set.
This performance wheel upgrade conundrum is wearing me out. New OE Z06 wheels can be had for $1385 but the finish is less then sexy. Fikse wheels are light, look great but also look out of place on the C5. The BBS's are expensive and a bit heavy. HRE's look awesome but cost as much as a supercharger. What's a poor performance focused guy to do?

Well, lighter rims, there's CCW's & Kinesis. But still, they're gonna weigh in at about 20 lbs front, maybe 23-25 lbs rear. In any event, is a 20+ lb total differential actually gonna make that much of a difference performance wise to you bro?
Probably not...
Get what you like. Its not going to make a difference performance wise...
Re: The Zweyer Wolf wheels may be too heavy! (Earl H)
You guys are right. Weight only makes a difference if you're interested in maximizing a car's acceleration or stopping potential. I'd guess that 20 + lbs on the wheels is no worse then 100 extra lbs in the trunk.

Famous last words. You guys are thinking about the wrong kind of weight. Your wheels spin. The faster they spin, the faster the car goes. The heavier the rim, the slower your rims spin. The slower your rims spin the slower your car goes. It's called unsprung weight. If you get big heavy wheels that are 30#'s then you will notice a loss in acceleration and potentially experience more sever wheel hop. It is much different from adding a stereo box or a passenger. Before I got involved with the iForged deal this was the wheel I was going to buy. The styling is great, but I couldn't handle the weight of the wheel and they couldn't make the size I wanted.
If your going just for show, I think these wheels look cool. They sort of have a euro look you would see on German cars. They can't high polish these?
Re: The Zweyer Wolf wheels may be too heavy! (RCswish)
RC, what size were you looking for? When you and I talked you were looking for 18X12 or 18X11.5 rears. I spoke with both Edge and West Coast and each said that that size is avaible. Thats mainly (along with the looks) is why I'm interested in this rim. Btw, the weight difference is only about 20lbs. Probably won't matter that much with my planned engine combo. Btw, any word on iForged 18X12s?

Lets not forget the words unsprung weight, heavy wheels will definitely change how you car rides and handles. :yesnod:
With all this talk about how much the wheels weigh, I am interested to weigh the wheel/tire combo and see what the difference is to the stock wheel/emt tire combo. With a possibly heavier wheel and a lighter non run flat tire, the package might prove to be very close in weight to the stock set up.
Re: The Zweyer Wolf wheels may be too heavy! (rrobert22)
I was being facetious. Unsprung weight is the issue I was alluding to. The hundred pounds in the trunk comment was also a joke. Some people might not notice. I would. As you said, it's going to hurt stopping and acceleration. If one were to drag race, dyno or other wise test the performance of their car using a method to sceintifically (i.e. more sophisticated then SOTP) quantify performance an unusually heavy wheel/tire combo will have a noticeably negative effect assuming your goal is to both go and stop quickly.
Has anyone ever tried different weight wheel/tire combos on a dyno? I'd love to know what the high-end, lighter, racing oriented wheels are worth performance wise.
Re: The Zweyer Wolf wheels may be too heavy! (Scotts_02C56Spd)
The pic of that red Z makes these wheels look SICK! , cant say they would look near as good on a silver or yellow car for example. just my opinion.

CCW sounds right up your alley. Strong, light, good looks, added traction, with big tires out the door under 3k. see sig ;)

I tried calling ya WCC today but you wernt opened.. I'm very interested in these wheels. Will give you a call tomorrow for a price...
I'm looking for 19/20s... I believe the biggest tire in the rear for a 20 is 285... If there is a bigger tire let me know haha Maybe get a 265 in the front...
Re: The Zweyer Wolf wheels may be too heavy! (Black_C5)
Black C5,
The list price for the 19x9.5 front / 20x10.5 rear wheels is $3058.00 + shipping and no sensors. I will sell them to you for $2900.00, or if we can get at least 3 people to commit the price would drop another $100 to $2800.00 + shipping and sensors, if needed. I will be able to quote you a shipping charge later today or tomorrow. I will need your zip code.
