I have an oil leak in my C5 Corvette coming from the area between the engine and the driveshaft, as shown in the attached photo. From what I’ve researched, the culprit seems to be the cover GM part number 12639250 that needs to be replaced.
I’ll be doing the job in a friend’s garage using an inspection pit, so I want to make sure I’m fully prepared to get it done in one go. Should I just order that cover, or is there anything else that might catch me by surprise during the process?
Yes, I'm sure. I replaced the oil pan gaskets, everything was cleaned and spotless. After the first start, the car was still on the lift, and as it was warming up, I could clearly see where the leak was starting. I've been driving like this for a while now, so everything is dirty with oil again.
