Just acquired a Hypertech III but never installed one before. Does anyone have any advise regarding it's use. Anyone have the instructions or know of a weblink to enlighten me. I recently got my vette tuned at Breathless Performance -- do you think the hypertech can improve my performance more? Thx Pete
Pete, take a look in th Scan and Tune section. I like my HPPIII a lot, but certainly wouldn't install any handheld programmer over a custom tune for fear of messing something up.

:smash: Thx Ed, thats' what I am thinking. I know it can serve as a diagnostic tool & I can still do things like correct my speedo & stuff. Just never tried it before.
Call Hypertech at 1-800-532-3351. It is very possible that the programmer will not recognize the custom tuning already done. Reading the booklet leads me to believe that the other functions may not be available.
This unit will only mess up any tuning done by a tuner such as Breathless. It is only good for setting rpm limiter, shift points , fan on temps , and the like. I personally think it is a waste of money and probably the worst purchase I ever made for my car.If you avoid the general tuning of the unit you should be able to do the other things it is capable of.
When programming is being done, do not use any power accessories. Don't use the stereo, roll up or down the windows, open and close the doors etc... I rolled down my window the first time and my shift points got screwed up. The second time I programmed the car, I kept openning and closing the door, screwing up the program again. Third time was the charm.
If you raise the rev limiter and program the shift points just prior, you will see some sort of gain. It might take a few tries to pinpoint the exact shift points. I've readjusted them about 6 or 7 times and still think I've got some room left for improvement. I just wish the damn thing didn't take so long while programming.
Nothing a magazine and a 6 pack can't handle.
CORRECT, SIR !! :iagree:  ........at least when it comes for A/F-ratio and timing issues (injection and ignition).
On the other hand, the HPP-III's capabilities is a "nice to have" for e.g. shift firmness, shift points evaluation, FAN kick-in earlier (along with lowTemp Thermo), rpm adjuster.
Re: Hypertech Power Prog. III qtn. (SwissVette_Joe)
Thx for all of your suggestions guys -- its been very valuable. I'll keep my Hyp.III to fall back on. I'll actually know more tomorrow at my tuner (Breathless) regarding its' compatability -- Earnie has been great over there. Once again the forum has been valuable.
