Not sure if I should post here but i've decided I just don't like my Z06 side moldings and I'm going to remove them. Anyone else done this? Any words of wisdom? Dave
Several threads on this over time, mostly along the same lines as outaktrl noted, fishing line. I will note that when I pulled my hatch emblem I used a braided fishing line (dark green, don’t remember which) it worked pretty fast.

Strong fishing line and a heat gun to help soften up the adhesive. Also suggest starting with the small portion on the front fender to get a hang of it before moving onto the larger door BSM. If you don't tear them up too bad removing them, you can resell them as some owners want to add them.

Thanks,, I bought some tools off of Amazon to make it easier. One has some handles with heavy polymer cords and a Rubber wheel that takes the tape residue off. Plan on starting with the left front small one and make sure the paint will still look good under it. It's Electron blue and still really pretty.

Damn, that's a beautiful color too. Good luck to you.....I would not have the ***** to try it.
I'm getting ready to remove mine as well and do a repaint my car. I'm going to check out those handles if fishing line doesn't work for me. Best of luck!

They were only $15 or $16. I think they will really save the figers.
I took mine off (and I even ordered the option for a whopping $75!). They did protect my doors over the years based on the many marks present.
But - Even though I really like their looks - they just scream 1990’s to the car! 🤷🏻♂️
Sort of makes you wonder what hit them to leave the marks? Most car door will hit above the BSMs and mark up the part near the handle. I have to be careful when opening the door of my C7Z which I park on the passenger side of my C5 in the garage.
When I bought my 03 Z06 new it had them and I didn't like the look so I took them off. I used fishing line with WD40 and went very slowly. The WD40 helped to lube the process but still broke the fishing line a few times. WD40 also cleaned up any adhesive residue on the paint. I sold the BSM's for $100 on eBay, kind of wish I kept them now to include them with the car when I sell it.
