Hi, I recently purchased a C5 Corvette and had been driving it for a couple weeks when one night I stopped and got gas and when I started it back up, I noticed a loud tick took it home and parked it
im assuming it’s atleast a cam and lifter job now but I’m just curious what could’ve caused it ?
I got the valve covers off and noticed that two lifters on the driver side didn’t seem to be lubricating
thank you very much for the advice. Really looking for all I can get!
I’ve had someone look at it and they said lifter but that was just us listening to it run for a few moments.
it gets more repetitive with higher rpm

do not start again until you pull those valve covers off. Thats not a exh leak. If it is then ill shut up.
Pulled covers and it seems 2 lifters aren’t lubricating so I’m assuming it’s a oil pick up or oil pump issue caused multiple lifters to fail
If you didn't know what oil psi you had i would change out oil pump while its torn again its a big job. Not expensive if you do the work, if not, hope you have deep pockets.
I have to agree with T-Ray and helga, If you have pulled the 2 valve cover and start the engine, you should be able to put a clean shop towel over what ever rockers , and see if the tapping slows down or stops. If so shut it off and see about changing both the oil pressure switch and or the oil pump, but is odd that if it was the oil pump, why it only started once it was shut off for a few minutes for a fuel up. But I would want to check the oil pressure while running. The old adage is 10 PSI for every 1000 RPM's, so if the engine is idling at 700 RPM
and you have 10 PSI then your good.

The OP has 40 psi at idle confirmed with a mechanical gauge. The OPS or oil pump does not work in this equation.
