Default Front shocks

Good morning all! I just was hoping if someone could guide me and give me some type of direction. I replaced all of the shocks and sway bar links in my Corvette. Rear were easy and just bolts. Problem in my head is the front top of the shock. I mounted them and i tightened the top nut until it stopped but it crushed the top of the rubber insulator. Is that something that should only be tightened until the rubber starts to compress or should i buy something else to go on the top? The old ones had cap on the bottom and the top of the shock mount. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Go to the manufacturer's website and read the instructions: https://bilstein.blob.core.windows.n...M5-Y217A00.pdf
Torque specs and other pertinent information can be found there.
